Same balance
The upgrade carries over the chain's complete record. Every wallet holds exactly what it held before, and every past transaction is still there.
Blockchain recycling
Thousands of cryptocurrencies have been abandoned by the people who built them. Lynx brings some of them back, gives them a real job storing data, and leaves every holder's coins exactly where they were.
The problem
Every crypto boom leaves projects behind. The developers move on, but the networks keep running, some still burning electricity on mining, with nothing being built and nothing for the coins to do. For the people holding them, that money has usually been written off.
STEP 01
Lynx looks for abandoned projects whose technology can make the switch. Price and popularity don't matter. Compatibility does.
STEP 02
If the original team is still around, Lynx works with them on the move. If nobody answers, Lynx can go ahead on its own.
STEP 03
The chain gets a one-time upgrade to energy-efficient Proof of Stake and Lynx file storage. Its entire history comes along unchanged.
STEP 04
The revived chain joins the Lynx Data Storage Network as an equal, adding roughly 500 GB of new storage every year.
Why dead chains?
A blockchain doesn't die when its developers walk away. Copies of its complete history sit on computers all over the world, and as long as even one of them keeps running, the record survives. Many abandoned coins have kept producing blocks for years with nobody in charge.
For a failed coin, that stubbornness was wasted. For permanent storage, it's the whole point. Lynx takes chains that refuse to die and gives them something worth protecting: your data.
Built to survive
No off switch. There's no company server to unplug and no single owner who can shut it down.
Copies everywhere. Every node keeps the full history, spread across many computers in many places.
Already proven. These chains have outlasted their own creators, and their records are still intact.
For holders
Recycling changes what a chain can do. It doesn't change who owns what.
The upgrade carries over the chain's complete record. Every wallet holds exactly what it held before, and every past transaction is still there.
The coin keeps its original name and symbol, so holders and the community still recognize it.
Coins that sat idle now power staking and file storage, and every stored file burns a few coins for good. The market still sets the price, but the coin finally has work to do.
Better for the planet
Many abandoned coins still run on Proof of Work mining, burning electricity to protect a network nobody uses. Switching them to Proof of Stake removes almost all of that energy use.
Reviving a chain that already exists also means one less brand-new coin launched into an already crowded market.
Good to know
After the upgrade, Lynx maintains the code and leads development. Original developers are welcome to keep contributing.
Customers pay for storage in US dollars, and that revenue goes to Lynx, which runs the service. People who stake earn rewards in the coin itself.
Each node operator chooses whether to run the upgraded chain, and the market decides which version people follow.
